New York Anime Festival has announced that they will be presenting the American debut of the thirty minute anime film, Cencoroll at their convention this September. Cencoroll was created entirely by a single artist, Atsuya Uki. The project began as a short in 2007 and due to the overwhelming praise Uki received for this art, he decided to take on making the entire film on his own. Uki's story, based on his manga, won the Grand Prix Award, one of Japan's highest and most competitive awards for a manga artist. Cencoroll is about a Japanese town under attack by a mysterious monster and a boy, Tetsu and a girl, Yuki, are the only ones who know the secret to stopping the beast, their pet, Cenco.
